If the metal in the ionic compound is a transition element (with variable charge metal ions) the ionic charge is written as a Roman numeral following the element name of the cation. Name the ionic compound FeBr3. Spell out the full name of the ionic comoiund.

Writing names and formulas for ionic compounds. Provide proper chemical names (spelling counts!). Or provide chemical formulas using proper chemcial symbols, parentheses when needed, and numbers immediately following as subscripts, as in the following format: sodium chloride would be NaCl and aluminum sulfate [Al 2 (SO 4) 3] would be expressed as Al2(SO4)3.

It is an ionic compound, so its name is sodium sulfide. Greek prefixes are not used when naming an ionic compound.

Put the word 'ion' after the name. For Single Element Ions of Transition Metals (e.g. Cu 2+, Fe 3+, Co 3+ Write the ionic charge (the +1, +2 ) as a Roman Numeral and put parentheses around the charge. So Cu 2+ would be the Copper (II)ion. While not transition metals, Pb, Sn should also have Roman Numerals with parentheses to show their charge.

For Single Element Ions (e.g. K +, Mg 2+, P 3-). To name positive (+) ions write the name as from the Periodic Table and add the word 'ion' afterwards. To name negative (-) ions write the name from the Periodic Table but replace the ending with gymgedalezifor.tranbackmarroremangwealthdisjusipicra.infoinfo the word 'ion' after the name.
